Firenze, day two

Pat and I had a fabulous last day in Florence. We slept in a bit and enjoyed a leisurely breakfast of muesli, croissant with Nutella, and that strong, put hair in your chest (as my dad used to say) Italian coffee.  We had tickets to Uffizi Gallery at 10--which was jam-packed with visitors. I thought we would avoid the crowds in March, and it's not just students on Spring Break. They are mostly adults.
The paintings and sculptures created by Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and others were outstanding. Rick Steves narrated our tour (from his Audio Europe app again) and we chanced upon a little restaurant close to the Boboli Gardens behind Pitti Palace (the Medici residences). Homemade potato ravioli with bolognese, caprese salad, and the best chianti so far really made the afternoon beautiful.
We figured it would be best to hop in a taxi to Michelangelo Piazza to see the bronze version of the statue David, along with one of the best views of the city. The driver then brought us to the B & B and we put our feet up for a bit. Dinner at a toursity pizza joint ended our day. Last stop tomorrow: Venice. I cannot wait...this was my favorite place the last time I visited Italy. Chris and I led a student trip through Italy and Greece 15 years ago.

Pat was a good sport. The gardens were steep and rugged.

Anti-Trump even in the storefronts. So many comments about him. Many people over here lump all the Americans together and assume we support him and all of us as a group are morons. I was mortified to be generalized as one of the 46%. "Sad!"
